This evening Top Gear features a rather special guest by way of an incredible feat of engineering, the Petersen Engineering Meteor Bentley. Here at Sharp and Tappin we worked closely with Bob`s team on various parts of the Meteor Bentley project.
The car features the 27-litre V12 Rolls Royce Meteor, a derivative of the renowned Merlin engine that once propelled Spitfires. The Meteor was the power plant of many British tanks. Sharp and Tappin were tasked with giving this prestigious engine a touch of modern day car technology without losing its historic charm. Sharp and Tappin designed and developed a custom inlet manifold and fuel injection system, without interfering with the traditional Petersen Bentley appearance. Sharp and Tappin also developed a custom step up gear box to couple the immense torque from the Meteor engine to the chosen automatic gear box.
Sharp and Tappin were honoured to work with Petersen Engineering on such a prestigious project.
