Sharp and Tappin’s Sol-IT™ solar powered IT suite is a versatile green IT suite solution providing a low cost, low maintenance, high reliability solar powered computing system with no need for mains power. The IT suite gives schools, community centres, businesses and many other users the capability to operate 10 computers from just 3 solar panels. Its applications are vast, from 3rd world countries to locations with limited or no power infrastructure to forward thinking companies looking to save money, reduce power usage and be more environmentally friendly.
Sol-IT™ is the product of 12 months research & development, working closely with a partner on the ground in a developing country and is now a realistic solution with 5 working units out in the field in Angola
The Sol-IT™ solar IT suite solution is designed to provide a working IT suite powered solely from the sun for usage of up to 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. The system is also offered with an optional mains backup system to allow seamless topping up of batteries from mains or generator for vastly extended daily usage. The centre supply cabinet also has enough spare capacity for usage during 1-2 grey days.
Sol-IT™ uses a unique safe low voltage DC distribution system requiring no on site wiring, and featuring quick and easy plug and play connections. This system maximises power efficiency by reducing the number of voltage conversions, and reduces the ability for power from the centre to be diverted for unintended uses.
The Sol-IT™ solar IT suite is a scalable solution comprising of a Solar Supply Cabinet, Solar PV array and between 4 – 12 Work stations with all the necessary cabling housed in one crate for easy transportation.
